Step-by-step instructions to disassemble and reassemble your Staccato XL 2011.

Disassembly

1. Ensure your gun is clear, and your workspace is free of ammunition.
2. With the pistol pointed in a safe direction, rack the slide to the rear and visually inspect the chamber and magazine well to make sure the pistol is empty.
3. Pull the slide back to line up to take down notch on the slide with the slide stop knuckle.
4. Push on the slide stop pin from the opposite side of the pistol using a finger or a small tool and remove the slide stop.
5. Gently pull the slide forward and off of the frame.
6. Remove the Dawson Precision® Tool-Less Guide Rod, by pushing forward on the flange of the guide rod to expose the takedown lever.
7. Depress the lever and lower it down onto the reverse plug to capture the system and pull it out from the shooter side of the screen tool, rotating it so that the notch can clear the link.
8. Slide the link forward on your barrel and pull it out from the muzzle end of the slide.
9. Use a brush and a cleaning rag or paper towel to clear away debris from the slide rails, frame surfaces, and barrel feed ramp.
10. Use your bore brush to clean the bore of the barrel, from breech to muzzle. And repeat this process as needed.
11. Apply a small amount of CLP to your bore mop to oil the bore of your barrel.
12. Using a clean patch, wipe away excess oil from the inside of your barrel.
13. Apply a few drops of lubricant to your slide rails and barrel contact points.

Re-Assembly

1. Ensure the link is flipped forward towards the muzzle and reinstall the barrel. Rotate the guide rod into place.
2. Push on the rear of the flange to release the take down lever.
3. Gently lower it against your barrel.
4. Line up the slide rails to the corresponding rails on the frame and reinstall your slide.
5. Be sure that the guide rod flange is pushed up against the barrel and not kicking out towards your frame, and that the barrel is not rotated to either side, because this can prevent the top end from fully sliding onto the lower.
6. Look for the link through the slide stop hole in your frame. The pin on your slide stop must insert through the hole of your link in order to function properly. If the link hole is not lined up, simply use a small tool to drop it into place.
7. Insert your slide stop into the frame through the link hole and rest it gently against your frame.
8. Pull the slide back to line up your takedown notch with the knuckle of your slide stop and fully seat the slide stop into your frame.
9. Rack the slide to check for proper function.
